Feng Shui literally means wind and water.
It is an ancient Chinese wisdom that helps us interpret how we relate to our environment, and how our environment influences us. It is based on the belief that everything is made of energy, is interconnected, and is constantly changing.
When China was under imperial rule, feng shui was a well-kept secret, known only to a handful of astronomers and scientists commissioned with maintaining the health, wealth, and power of the court. Imperial palaces and cities were planned according to feng shui principles, which became an important element in classical Chinese architecture. Beijing's Forbidden City is a spectacular example of this 5,000 year old art.
Today, feng shui is becoming a common practice worldwide. Banks, hotels, houses, and even several new communities in Hong Kong have been planned according to feng shui principles. Many fortune-500 companies use feng shui to maintain and improve the success of their enterprises.
Based on the laws of nature, this ancient Chinese method, along with its theories, principles and techniques, gives us insight into problems we might encounter and offers solutions to create an overall sense of balance, harmony and contentment.
Feng shui principles may also be used to enhance specific areas of our lives as desired.
